Prayer Update

Updated 8/27/11
I received the following note from our friend Rebecca.  Continue to pray.

Well after a hopeful morning we received some disappointing news this afternoon.
The pathology report was completed and even though the surgeon did not think the cancer had gone into the colon wall unfortunately it had. The good news is that all of that has been removed from Bryan's body. However, in addition, some of Bryan's lymph nodes were positive for cancer. The surgeon did a great job getting a large sample of lymph nodes (45) and 3 of the nodes were positive. Bryan's cancer has been diagnosed as stage 3 colon cancer. With this diagnosis Bryan will need chemotherapy. He has been referred to an oncologist who he met this evening. The plan is for curative treatment involving several chemotherapy drugs given together in cycles over 6 months. We do not know at this point when exactly Bryan will start treatment but probably within the next 4-6 weeks.
I write all of this with a heavy heart tonight. Please continue to pray for...
1. Eradication of Bryan's cancer
2. Strength and courage for Bryan mostly but for the kids and I as well (Joshua 1:9)
3. Wisdom for the oncologist as we determine the best course of treatment
4. Bryan's continued recovery from surgery .... not exactly sure when he will come home
5. Bryan to tolerate chemotherapy treatments
6. For us to allow God to lead us (Psalm 23) through whatever lies ahead
Thank you for continuing to pray for us. This verse was shared with me just yesterday.... 2 Corinthians 1:10-11 "He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and He will deliver us. On Him we have set our hope that He will continue to deliver us, as you help us by your prayers. Then many will give thanks on our behalf for the gracious favor granted us in answer to the prayers of many."

As I  mentioned in a post last week, our friend Bryan was diagnosed with colon cancer.  He had surgery this morning and the doctor's report was good. The cancer has not spread to other organs. They will wait until tests come back from pathology to make sure the lymph nodes are clear.   Obviously he's in pain from surgery but otherwise doing well.

Thank you for praying for our friends.
