We just returned from a furiously fast and fabulous trip to Florida. We left on July 25th (Happy Birthday, Kelly!) and drove straight through to Oma's house in FL. We made great time and hit no traffic on I 95! Shocking, I know. We spent a few days with Oma and swam in the pool and just enjoyed hanging out with each other. It was way too short of a visit but we are glad we were able to spend a time with her, even if it wasn't long enough.
Saturday, we headed another several hours further south to Captiva Island. We rented a huge beach house and my parents and my sister and her family all converged for one week at the beach. Captiva/Sanibel are famous for their seashells so we spent a lot of time shelling. We took so many shells, there may not be any left! I've never seen such beautiful shells all in one place. It was unbelievable. We shelled, swam in the ocean, ate ice cream, swam in the pool, paddle boarded, parasailed, ate more ice cream, read, lounged, built sand castles, watched some Olympic coverage, and just had a great time. It was the first time in a long time everybody was able to be together in one place. My kiddos were really excited to spend time with their cousins. We hired a photographer to take some photos and I hope those came out well. We'll have to wait a few weeks on those.
Then, on Saturday we headed back to VA. Made the trip back in one day, again, without any major traffic delays on I95.
Thanks Mom and Dad and C's for such a great week. We loved spending time with all of you and have made some great memories.
