At the end of June, we made a trip back to Lake Isabella. The river was raging and we couldn't swim this time but we found a calm lagoon area where the kids tried (it was freezing!) to go swimming.
Scott got home the Friday before the 4th and we all went to Laguna Beach for the weekend. When we got to the hotel and were ready to leave for the beach, Scott announced that there was a change of plans. He said I had an appointment at the spa for a massage and spa day and he and kiddos were going to the beach. It was a really great surprise and was very sweet of him. I really enjoyed my massage.
The Monday after July 4th, we went to Lake Pyramid and went boating with some friends. We had a great day and had a blast tubing.
On July 10th Oma came to CA to see us. Scott came back from Ft. Worth the same day she came in so he picked her up from the airport when he got in. Jessica turned 12 (YES, we are really getting old) on July 11th. We took her to lunch and had a small family celebration.
Tonight was Jessica's slumber party. She invited just a few friends to celebrate. She really wanted to have Scott set up a tent in the backyard and to "camp out." Unfortunately the weather had a mind of its own. We got a terrible storm.. wind, and lots of rain. It NEVER rains here in the summer. Needless to say the party remained inside but they are still enjoying themselves. Between thunderstorms we had an amazing sunset. Since we couldn't camp outside... they camped inside in the living room.
Scott's first flight in the JSF is supposed to be coming up soon so Oma is hanging out waiting to see it.
I made some cake diplays for cake classes that I'll be teaching on base in the fall. I've been finishing up some embroidery projects and getting ready for school at the beginning of August.
Summer is flying by!
