Raining Ash

We have some wild fires burning in Southern California. Yesterday we went to a water park in Palmdale. We watched the smoke come slowly over the mountains toward us. It was very eerie looking. The sky turned a really dirty brown color and everything had a red tint. The sky looked like it would open up and pour rain. Instead of raindrops the sky rained ash. We had ash in our hair, our eyes, and our drinks. They closed the water park down due to the weather.

Here are a few photos of what the sky looked like from our house yesterday afternoon. The blue sky underneath is the clear sky coming in behind it. I am sad for the people who are losing their homes and thankful for the fire fighters trying to contain it.
